DAY 1: DIANI BEACH - TSAVO EAST

With an early pick up from your hotel at 06:30hrs in the morning, the journey takes you along the main Mombasa-Nairobi highway where traditional coastal culture slowly and noticeably begins to transform into semi-arid terrain the closer we approach Tsavo East National Park.

Arriving at the park through Bachuma Gate, you will begin the game drive looking for animals on entry as we slowly and surely drive towards the direction of your accommodation looking for any resident wildlife that call Tsavo home.

At a size of 22,000Km2, Tsavo is one of the world's largest wildlife sanctuaries and is most noted for its dust covered red elephant herds, its maneless lions and a variety of other wild animals including leopards, cheetah, giraffe, buffalo and other plains game. On arrival at Lion Hill Lodge (or similar), you will be assisted with check in and enjoy a lunch buffet followed by some relaxation. 

 

In the afternoon at about 16:00 hrs, continue with another series of game viewing in search of more animals and birds, concentrating on maximising your photo opportunities of any wildlife we may spot including; lions, buffalo, ostrich, elephants, giraffe, antelopes, zebra and warthog among others. Still inside the park we then return to the lodge at about 18:30hrs for dinner and overnight.

DAY 2 : TSAVO EAST - DIANI BEACH

The following morning at 06:00hrs, enjoy some coffee/tea at the lodge before you leave for an early morning game drive in search of animals and big cats that may have come out into the open during the night. After the game drive you will then return to the lodge for breakfast. 

Checking out from the lodge, proceed on another game drive looking for animals until we arrive at the park exit. You will be served with lunch at a local restaurant near Voi town before departing for Diani Beach arriving at your hotel in the late afternoon.

1 Day Wasini / Kisite Island Snorkeling Trip:

Departing in the morning from your diani beach hotel, start the journey with a scenic drive passing the coconut and sugarcane plantations of the south coast as you head towards Shimoni fishing village near the Tanzanian border.

Upon arrival at the Shimoni Jetty, the crew will arrange for your marine park tickets from where you will then board a traditional Arabic motorized dhow to start your oceanic voyage into the Wasini Channel. The dhow trip is handled by the Wasini Island Community so the friendly local crew members will be quite happy to share their island life stories with you as you sail past their beautiful island.
 

Arriving close to the snorkeling spot, the sharp eyed captain and crew will start to search for the resident dolphins that usually are around. Although chances are high, because the dolphins are wild and free it might be your lucky day to spot them. 

When the dhow stops at the snorkelling site, your mask and snorkel will be provided and one of the crew members will accompany you as a guide in the water. Marvel at the underwater world in search of butterfly fish, parrot fish, wrasses, sweetlips and possibly turtles.

After snorkeling, board the dhow once again and head for Wasini Island to a local restaurant where you will be served with a traditional swahili lunch. The lunch menu consists either of chicken, fish or vegetarian served with fresh coconut rice, sauce and fruits. Soft drinks, mineral water or fresh juices can be purchased directly at the restaurant.

After lunch and some relaxation depart from Shimoni in the afternoon to arrive back in your respective diani hotel by mid afternoon.

Transport to and from your Diani hotel, snorkelling equipment including mask and snorkel, Kenya Wildlife Service Marine Park Fees and Lunch at the Wasini Island local restaurant.

Guided Primate Eco-Tour (One Hour):

Picking you up from your hotel in Diani Beach, we will take a short drive to the colobus conservation centre to begin the tour. The primate eco-tour is a guided walk taking you along the colobus conservation's nature trail for an introduction into the life of a wild colobus troop and some of the other wild monkeys like Vervet's, Sykes and Baboons - depending on who is about. 

The walk is followed by an informative talk by the experts at the information centre where a series of posters help further to visualise the ongoing primate conservation activities. As it is an active conservation centre, visitors are likely to see the volunteers and staff at work, building bridges, caring for injured monkeys or doing their primate research.

 

After this informative tour, we will take you back to your hotel to enjoy the rest of your holiday.
