"Red Sands and Magical Rainforests" – 3 Days Shimba Hills and Tsavo East National Park in 4x4 Landcruiser

 

Day 1 – Depart from your hotel mid morning and drive to the luscious and only tropical rainforest on the coast: Shimba Hills. The park also boasts a diverse blend of flora and fauna with significant number of Sable Antelopes: it is the only place in Kenya where you will find them. Your check in and lunch will be at the only Tree hotel on the coastal region.

Coming up next, is an accompanied walk through the jungle to the famous and refreshing Sheldrick waterfalls.

As a brief, Shimba Lodge itself provides you with a dynamic experience in the forest and opportunities to dine next to a vast variety of forest wildlife. Have a rest with a good view of the forest and waterhole frequently visited by Elephants and resident birds such as Horn bills and Fish Eagles.

Early PM game drive through the National Reserve with an accompanied sun-downer at one of the elevated viewpoints. Overnight will be at Shimba Lodge.

Day 2 – Post breakfast: we check out and drive through Duruma land encompassed with Savannah vegetation to the Tsavo East National Park. Upon entry into Tsavo East enjoy a game drive until lunch time. You may wish to relax until your mid-afternoon game drive.

4 pm: Commence with early evening game-drive. Dinner and overnight will be at Ashnil Aruba Lodge, Manyatta Camp or similar.

Day 3 – 6:30 am: Game drive begins in search of the nocturnal Big Cats’ returning from their hunt: if you’re lucky you may see Lions, Cheetahs and/ or Leopards in action. You will be back in time for a scrumptious feast at breakfast. Check-out post breakfast, and commence a short game drive through to exit route.

Lunch is at a restaurant in Voi town. Drive back to coastal hotel.
