Diani Biking Tours & Excursions

One of the best ways to view the surrounding locations is to rent a bike and have the freedom to explore! We offer three 

unique biking tours, which require a general level of fitness to keep up with the hours of riding.

Half-Day Bicycle Adventure to Traditional Village:

 

8 am: pick up from hotel and proceed to Diani Bike Center where you will pick up your bike for the day. Then, ride your bike to Masaai village, where you can get a taste of the local way of life and culture. Next, proceed to the self-help primary school (it is a nice idea to bring small gifts of books,travel far and beyond bi pens or sweets) to interact with village children. Next, continue to a tour of the village community of simple homesteads. 

 

After visiting the homesteads, pass by the local Mganga (the Swahili name for a jungle doctor ) for observing traditional ways of healing. Continue the ride to Ukunda rural market, where you will find local shopping of fruits, vegetables and outdoor markets. Here, you can get a taste of coconut water and coconut wine. After Ukunda market, proceed to Diani Bike Center to drop off your bike- and then onwards, get dropped off at your beach hotel.

 

Ride time: 4 hours

 

Half- day Beach Biking & Canoe Trip:

Pick up from your beach hotel at 8 am. Proceed to Diani Bike Center where you will pick up your bike, and continue for a beach 

ride- past the coconut fronted hotels and houses, and around the coral outcrops, to where the Congo River Delta meets Indian Ocean.  

Here, you will ride a canoe into the River to see the Mangrove swamps, which host many seabirds and the ancient Baobab trees. After your canoe ride, drop off at Diani Bike Center where you will return your bike and then proceed back to your coastal hotel.

 

Ride Time: 5 hours

 

Half-day Forest Discovery Bicycle Excursion:

 

Pick up from your beach hotel at 8 am. Proceed to Diani Bike Center where you will pick up your bike. You will begin your safari at Aqualand Center, which is few meters from the area known as the Kaya Kinondo Forest. Here the villagers will greet you and escort 

you to their ancient kayas (which are sacred clearing in the forest  used as prayer places and community meetings ). They will delve 

into ancient times and talk about the history of trees and their land.

After the meeting, you will proceed to Diani Bike Center to return your bike and then get dropped off at your coastal hotel.
